One account, many models: how the gateway routes
Why we route per request, and how Balanced, Frontier and your own keys fit together.

Different tasks want different models. Reading a file and summarizing it doesn't need the same model as a cross-cutting refactor.
Routing tiers
- Balanced is the default: efficient models for everyday work.
- Frontier sends the request to the most capable model from a provider.
- Bring your own routes through your provider keys or an OpenAI-compatible endpoint.
Per request, not per subscription
You can set a default per mode (for example, Frontier for Plan, Balanced for Ask) and override it on any request. Usage for every route shows up in the portal.
